What parents are saying about Dr. Mitch

Built her confidence and trust

“I cannot recommend Dr. Mitch enough. My daughter had a terrible experience with a previous dentist, and by the time we came to Dr. Mitch, she was absolutely terrified of the dental office. She was unwilling to cooperate or allow any treatment to be done. Over the course of a year, Dr. Mitch patiently built her confidence and trust. With his encouragement and gentle approach, she eventually felt safe enough to receive treatment in office, something I never thought possible.”

Truly creates a safe and supportive environment

“Dr. Mitch truly creates a safe and supportive environment for children. He takes the time to build genuine rapport, allowing kids to move at their own pace. He is not only caring and knowledgeable, but also incredibly respectful of parents. He explains everything clearly, involves us in every decision, and educates without ever making anyone feel judged.”

Exceptional at what he does

“Thanks to Dr. Mitch, my daughter now has a strong, positive foundation for her oral health, and as both a parent and someone who has had the privilege of working alongside him, I can say with complete confidence that he is exceptional at what he does.”

Best pediatric dentists, hands down!

“Dr. Mitch is one of the best pediatric dentists, hands down! I’ve met more than half a dozen different dentist through the years and both my experience as a parent and my girls’ experiences as patients have been exceptional! He is kind, compassionate, friendly, gentle, and extraordinarily patient. He is also very informative to me as a parent and to my girls with any questions we have while thoroughly explaining any treatment recommendations and why they were recommended. He always takes his time to answer any questions we have and best of all… my girls absolutely love him!”

Truly cares about his patients

"Dr. Mitch is one of the best dentists we have seen. Before coming to his office my kids were scared to step foot into a dentist office, after a few visits with Dr. Mitch that fear turned into excitement! He’s gentle, knowledgeable, doesn’t over treat and truly cares about his patients!"

Children look forward to their appointments

"Dr. Mitch is the kind of dentist every parent wants for their kids. Since we started seeing him, all five of my children actually look forward to their appointments. He’s created an environment where they feel at ease instead of anxious. He’s kind, compassionate, and always so gentle with them. Truly the best!"

10 / 10!

“Dr. Mitch has seen both my children aged 4 and 8 and is great with them both. He provides a welcoming safe space for my children while providing me feedback on how they’re doing and tips on how to improve their at home routines. 10/10!”

We’re Accepting New Patients!

When should I schedule my child for their first dental visit?
We recommend every child be seen by a board-certified pediatric dentist for their first dental visit within 6 months after their first tooth erupts or by their first birthday. Establishing a dental home early on for your child is important for familiarizing them with the dental setting, identifying any risk factors for oral disease, reviewing diet and oral hygiene practices, and to answer any questions you might have for the dentist!
How often should my child see a dentist?

Your child should receive a preventive dental checkup at least every 6 months. Regular periodic examinations provide the opportunity for dental providers to detect early signs of oral disease, allowing for more conservative treatment options or even the possibility to monitor the condition of certain teeth and reevaluate them at the next visit.

Seeing children for 2 dental checkups each year further builds on the idea of establishing a dental home where they feel comfortable and safe. It also instills the importance oral health has in maintaining and achieving overall health, an idea that we hope every patient comes to understand as they mature and establish their own independence.

What will my child’s first dental visit look like?

First dental visits may differ depending on your child’s age and comfort level.

  • For infants and some toddlers, the visit may focus more on an open dialogue between members of the dental team and the parent(s) or guardian(s), while ample time is spent interacting with your child and showing them some of the dental equipment and tools used for routine appointments. The dentist will perform an exam, sometimes with the child on their parent or guardians lap, unless they are cooperative enough to sit in the chair for the exam.
  • For some toddlers and preschool-aged children, the visit may be more hands-on as the dental team gauges the child’s excitement level and willingness to allow routine preventative care such as a dental cleaning, x-rays, fluoride treatment (if desired), and a thorough exam by the dentist.

For all new patients, our goal is to keep visits as positive as possible and excite your child about coming back for their next visit, whether it be their next checkup, restorative treatment, or anything else. Dr. Mitch believes that the best treatment outcomes happen when we work together with patients and their families, always keeping patients’ comfort and willingness to attempt any treatment in mind at all times.

Will my child need braces? If so, when?
The reality is that almost all children will benefit from orthodontic treatment because teeth very rarely erupt into perfect positioning, but not every child needs braces. The need for orthodontic treatment comes down to the severity of crowding, malalignment of teeth, and the growth, development, and relationship between the upper and lower jaws.

Most orthodontists recommend children be seen for an orthodontic consultation after age 7, but there are occasional instances in which a child may need to see an orthodontist before then. Often times it’s okay to monitor your child’s growth and development and wait until they are in their pre-teen or teenage years to see how necessary orthodontic treatment is. A typical time to refer for routine orthodontic treatment is between ages 11 and 14, when all (or most) primary teeth have been lost and the landscape of the permanent dentition can be assessed.
